Ah, Santa Fe
Back in March 2024, I had the great fortune of a two-week spring break at the college where G and I work. Those two weeks coincided with a conference in Chicago for G and another engagement, a few days later, in Flagstaff, AZ. I accompanied him to Chicago, played tourist and visited so many of the sites and sights on my ever-growing bucket list. Then, I took a train to Santa Fe, New Mexico, to spend a few days before meeting up with him again in Flagstaff (via train) and heading over to Palm Springs, CA, together to round out the week. Santa Fe was an intentional stop for me—and an incredibly meaningful one, as it’s a city I’ve long wanted to visit, mainly due to Georgia O’Keeffe and the museum there dedicated to her life and work. Unfortunately, I didn’t get up to her home and studio in Abiquiú, but I will someday!
While I didn’t have a ton of time in Santa Fe, I did have just enough to visit the museum, explore the city bit, enjoy a walk for some fantastic views, and take in the botanical garden. And, of course, I captured as much as I could through my lens (Fuji X100V). I fell in love with the city, yes, but those colors…oh my. The mix of warm clay tones and bright blue skies…I can't wait to return. There is surely truth to New Mexico being known as “the land of enchantment.”
Until next time, New Mexico…you’ll be in my dreams!
