Up early (and before I was fully awake and coherent), G decided to make a run back to Kensington to the Willow Bakery—he was back by 8:30, and after enjoying cinnamon buns and splitting a scone, we were ready for the day. First stop was Brackley Beach, which is an absolutely gorgeous beach just down the road from Dalvay and part of the Prince Edward Island National Park (which we adore). This year, from June 19 to September 7, entry to all of Canada’s national parks is free with the Canada Strong Pass—amazing! We spent some time at Brackley Beach, walking the beach and taking photos

After a while at Brackley, we decided to drive to the other part of the park, Greenwich, about an hour away. On the way, we stopped at St. Peter’s Harbour Lighthouse, which we hadn’t previously visited. It was absolutely gorgeous—like Covehead Harbour Light, St. Peter’s rises out of the dunes. Between those two lighthouses, the dunes, the red clay roads, the fog, and the food, I don’t think I’d EVER tire of photographing Prince Edward Island.

Then, we made our way to Greenwich, walked the short trail to the beach and then walked our favorite PEI trail, the Greenwich Dunes Trail. Today was the first great weather day we had, so we wanted to make the most of being outside, taking photos, and enjoying the natural beauty of PEI. This end of the island was, at times, shrouded in fog, which made the photography even more fun. Seriously, I’m in heaven here…

After heading back toward Dalvay and planning to again visit Richard’s for a repeat lobster roll, we instead decided to try a different place and headed over to North Rustico, to On the Dock Eatery. Parking was limited, so we parked a short walk away and followed the boardwalk to the restaurant, which made for a nice pre- and postdinner walk. At the restaurant, we both had lobster rolls and fries with a side of potato salad and coleslaw—another fantastic meal.

Not quite ready to call it a day, we traveled the road to Cavendish, stopping at Cap Turner for the lupines (I have no idea why G’s head is SO big in the photo!!!), before making our way to Avonlea Village for, you guessed it, COWS. I stuck with the single PEI strawberry, and G mixed it up this time, ordering a double with apple crisp and PEI blueberry. We made a few stops on the way back to Dalvay for photos and by the time we got back to our room—18,000 steps later—we were both ready for hot showers and a good night’s sleep—but certainly not ready for our last day in PEI to come to and end.
