Today, we’d be making our way toward the greater Halifax area to catch up with good friends of ours and from there, we’d start traveling toward Cape Breton. Last time we spent time with our friends, we went out on the family’s lobster boat and went fishing in the Yarmouth area—and had an absolute blast. This year, we’d be catching up and celebrating their recent milestone events: new house, new job (Christine) and promotion (Connor), and, best of all, their engagement! Oh, and Canada Day, too!
After spending time catching up and enjoying time in their beautiful new home, the four of us enjoyed an absolute delightful lunch at a nearby restaurant, Tuna Blue, in Hubbards. Lunch was delicious! G ordered the fish tacos, and I ordered the lobster roll. Both were delicious. Our friends ordered the pan-fried haddock and the Caesar salad topped with jumbo shrimp, sweet lobster, seared scallops, and mussels, which looked AMAZING! Unfortunately, I didn’t get photos of Connor’s and Christine’s meals or of the four of us! Darn!!
Much too soon, we were back on the road. As we weren’t sure what time we’d be leaving and arriving elsewhere, we decided to play it safe and book an indoor stay rather than camp. I found a great place about two hours away on the Eastern shore, The Marmalade Motel. I was sold on the vibe of the website and the rooms/descriptions when looking online—the place seemed to have character. Plus, it was on the water! Unfortunately, the earlier sun and warmth of the day had given way to gray skies and misty drizzles by the time we checked in (inside a very cool geodesic dome!).
Still, we were more than happy to relax in our room—the No Drama Llama Room: “Bright, quirky, and totally chill, the No Drama Llama room is all about easygoing comfort. Two cozy beds, playful décor, and a private balcony make it perfect for friends, family, or anyone who likes a little extra space and zero drama. Sip your coffee, watch the waves, or just lounge like a llama on vacation.” With a description like that, how could I resist?
